The FIPV at AFIDE 2019

From November 8 to 15, the VIII INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SPORTS (AFIDE 2019) was held in Havana (Cuba).

On this occasion the FIPV was present through its President Xavier Cazaubon and the Secretary General Julián García.

In addition to the official programming established in the nerve center of the Havana Convention Center, the FIPV delegation held meetings with the different sectors of American sports.

Athletes of Olympic and world size such as Javier Sotomayor, Aña Fidelia Quiros, Driulis Gonzalez, Rolando Garbey, Maria Caridad Columbus, Tomas Herrera or Silvio Leonarda.

Government authorities such as the Minister of Youth and Sports of Mali, with whom it was agreed to develop our sport in Mali, Niger, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Liberia and Mauritania, with a presence in the African Games and the Youth Olympic Games from Dakar; Arnaldo Sánchez Vice Minister of Sports Massification of Venezuela; Roberto León Richards Aguiar President of the Cuban Olympic Committee and Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias member of the Secretariat of the CCPCC Central Committee.

Miguel Díaz Reynoso, Ambassador of Mexico in Cuba, and Maximiliano Reyes Zuñiga, Undersecretary of the Mexican Foreign Ministry, deserve special mention for their support to FIPV projects such as the Rehabilitation Plan for the island's Sports Facilities identified as priorities in the restoration plan. (Jai-Alai of Cienfuegos, Jai-Alai Ponce Carrasco “Palacio de los Gritos” and Complejo Comandante Díaz Argüelles), and the Mexico-Cuba Sports Cooperation program agreed a week ago during the official visit of Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard to Havana in high-level meetings with President Díaz Canal, Commander Raúl Castro and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

An important bilateral meeting was also held between INDER with the presence of its President Osvaldo Venta and FIPV with the additional assistance of Second Vice President Marta Lidia Ruiz and the President of the Cuban Federation Lázaro Mendoza, in which an updated follow-up of the rehabilitation works was carried out. of the Pelota sports facilities, which ended with the official announcement of the Cuban Ministry of Sports, the Cuban Olympic Committee, the Province of Cienfuegos and the Municipality of Cienfuegos as the venue for the U-22 World Championship 54 meter fronton and the Cup of the World Fronton 54 meters in October 2020.

During the closing of AFIDE 2019, the FIPV enjoyed a prominent presence in the Presidium through its President, and finally they joined the official ceremonies of the 500th Anniversary of the Foundation of the City of Havana with official receptions by the Historian of the City of Havana Eusebio Leal, the Mayor of Havana Reynaldo García Zapata and the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel.
