“LET'S GO FOR MORE”

On the afternoon of last Thursday, February 13, the Mexican Embassy in Havana, Cuba, served as a setting for a large delegation made up of officials from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of the Republic of Cuba (INDER), of the Government of the Province of Havana and the International Federation of Basque Pelota (FIPV), will officially present to the Ambassador of Mexico in Cuba, Miguel Díaz Reynoso, the official and technical documentation to launch a novel tripartite cooperation project for the rehabilitation of four buildings for the practice of Basque Pelota, of historical and architectural value: The Jai-Alai of Cienfuegos; the Palacio de los Gritos and the Comandante Díaz Argüelles Complex, in Havana; and City of Bolivia, in Ciego de Avila.

As host of the event, Ambassador Díaz Reynoso addressed a few words allusive to the event, highlighting the wonderful moment that relations between Mexico and Cuba are going through, which are now adorned with this noble and innovative project of tripartite cooperation between Mexico, Cuba and the FIPV . The Ambassador highlighted the importance for the well-being of our populations of rescuing public spaces for social coexistence, as well as their rehabilitation for the practice of sports. He congratulated, for the tireless promotion of this initiative, the President of FIPV, Xavier Cazaubon, as well as the INDER and Havana authorities. 'We are going for more in the Mexico-Cuba relationship,' concluded Ambassador Díaz Reynoso.

For his part, the Vice President of INDER, Ariel Sainz Rodríguez, thanked the parties for the support provided for the rescue and rehabilitation of these facilities, since they affect not only population health through the practice of sports, but also It also highlights the priority nature of the practice of high-level skills for the Cuban government, as established by the President of the Republic himself. He pointed out that with these spaces Cuba will be able to practice this activity in first-class facilities and, more importantly, host international competitions and qualifiers for this sport.

Mr. Julián García Angulo, Secretary General of the FIPV, thanked the Ambassador for this reception and highlighted the historic moment that is being experienced in terms of the recovery of historic buildings and pediments. He thanked the work of all the people who have participated in the project, which 'is not the result of causality but of effort and work together,' he said. 'We continue adding and working for the sake of a lively and, above all, renewed ball,' he concluded.

Also participating in the event for INDER were Gisleidi Sosa Cabrera, Director of International Relations; Agustín Miguel Abril García, Director of Organization and Programming; Nuridis Rodríguez Hidalgo, Investment Director; and Judith Landaney Marrero, international relations specialist. Representing the Province of Havana, the General Project Coordinator Tatiana Viera Hernández and José Martínez Cedeño, Sports Director of the province. For the FIPV, the Second Vice President, Martha Lidia Ruiz Jesús; Jesús Legarra, member of the Facilities Commission; and Lázaro Mendoza Simón, President of the Cuban Basque Pelota Federation.

At the end of the interventions, the corresponding files and documentation were delivered.
