INTRODUCTION: PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

Olympism is a philosophy of life that exalts and combines into a balanced whole the qualities of the body, will and mind. Combining sport with culture and education, Olympism aims to create a way of life based on the joy of effort, the educational value of good example, social responsibility and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.

Olympic Charter.

The use of doping substances or doping methods to improve performance is contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship and the joy of the effort of Olympism. Misuse and abuse of drugs is detrimental to the athlete's health. Furthermore, it seriously damages the integrity, image and value of the sport. In fact, a true commitment to a fair playing field is mandatory to ensure integrity and fair sportsmanship in sport. The FIPV seeks to maintain the integrity of Basque pelota by implementing a comprehensive anti-doping program that focuses equally on education/prevention and testing, with subsequent sanctions for those who break the rules.

The anti-doping program aims to preserve the intrinsic value of clean sport, which is the essence of the Olympic movement and Olympism to pursue human excellence through the dedicated perfection of each person's natural talents. The spirit of sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind and is reflected in the values we find in and through sport, including:

  • Ethics, fair play and honesty.
  • Health.
  • Excellence in performance.
  • Character and education.
  • Fun and joy.
  • Teamwork.
  • Dedication and commitment.
